María del Sol Ibanez

piano instructorMaría del Sol Ibanez
María del Sol is a pianist and composer originally from Chile. Music has been her passion since childhood and she considers herself a lifelong learner of this magnificent art. With nearly 20 years of experience teaching piano to young children, teenagers, and adults, her main objective is to inspire and empower students through music. Her experience as a pianist and composer enables her to give students a strong musical foundation while also creatively adapting lessons to each individual student’s unique strengths and needs. She believes in connecting with students particular interests and cultivating a fun, positive environment that allows learning to occur within a space of genuine kindness and respect. María del Sol earned her bachelor of music in Piano Performance from Florida International University, where she studied under the exceptional artist, Kemal Gekic. She also studied with Miami International Piano Festival’s Artistic Director, Giselle Brodsky, who taught her the Taubman Technique method - training she reinforced and expanded through multiple symposiums from the Golandsky Institute at Princeton University. This merging of backgrounds gives her a well rounded combination of artistic and technical skills in her musical approach which she aims to transmit to her students. As a film composer, María del Sol received her master’s degree from the Screen Scoring Graduate Program at New York University Steinhardt. She has had the honor of scoring films for multiple artists, including Oscar nominated screenwriter José Rivera and award-winning filmmaker Jeffrey Teitler. She is also a 2023 Regional Emmy Award nominee for her work on the short documentary, Gun Shot Women. To teach and witness students develop a loving relationship to music is an immensely rewarding experience for María del Sol. She believes the power of music education can help create a positive effect in today’s world and a lasting impact on future generations.
